In the books we meet a non-esper Itsuki at one point (I won't say more for spoiler sakes) who openly expresses an interest in Haruhi. The mainline Itsuki is so well trained in not really giving anything away that well, its hard to know who he's really after. While him being Bi seems quite reasonable, I do wonder if he just creeps Kyon out for the sake of creeping him out.

If it's from Futuba I wouldn't necessarily expect a good reason.After all, we refer to people by made up names over at Yotsuba and all the sattelite boards. There's not a good reason to call this Waha for example, the original character was something else entirely. No reason things that develop on Futuba should make any more sense. And yes, I think there is a gay joke in that name.
